MINI PIGS
Oak Leaf Ranch breeds and raises quality mini pigs to place as pets. Pigs are incredibly smart, clean, and social. They can learn a variety of tricks, live inside or outside, and enjoy spending time with their humans. We are dedicated to ethical breeding. This means that our pigs' well-being is important to us. We will NOT have our piglets end up in shelters or bad homes. For this reason, great care is put into the process of finding exactly the right homes and people to take on the responsibility of owning these animals. Before leaving, we set our piglets up for success by socializing and handling them along with neutering/spaying and deworming.
Potential owners must demonstrate that they are prime pig parent candidates. This means that they must live in an area where pigs are allowed to be kept as pets; they have the means to care for the pig (this includes general care such as proper feeding, hoof trimming, and adequate space/shade/shelter as well as more extreme care such as emergency vet visits if necessary); and they must understand that pigs won't be tiny, cute piglets forever. They can grow to weigh anywhere between 60 and 150 pounds (sometimes more!), root and dig holes in the dirt/lawn wherever they live, and reach the ages of 15 to 20 years old. When getting a pig, you are making a commitment to care for them for their entire lives.

Owners are required to sign a contract stating that they will provide the care necessary to own a pig. In the contract, owners also agree to return the pig to us if they cannot care for them for some unforeseen reason.

With all of that serious stuff out of the way, the reality is that pigs are worth the cost and care it takes to own them. They are sweet and loving with huge, unique personalities. They love to cuddle up to their people, and they'll do just about anything for a treat.
